AYNLAns hailed 2012 Outstanding QC Youth Leaders

Nurses are the 2012 most outstanding youths of Quezon City.

The Local Government of Quezon City through its Scholarship & Youth Development Program (SYDP) and its partner, Quezon City Youth Confederation (QCYC) – the largest confederation of 200 youth organizations in QC – conferred the 2012 Most Outstanding Youth Organization award to AYNLA Quezon City Chapter and the 2012 Most Outstanding Youth Leader of Quezon City to AYNLA’s President & CEO Nr. Alvin Dakis.

The conferment was made during QC’s commemoration of its young people. The awarding was done last December 22, 2012 at the Amoranto Sports Complex with the attendance of more than 5,000 youths from Quezon City.


Several other youth organizations in Quezon City was also awarded and commented for their efforts in helping the Local Government achieve its goals for the youth. AYNLA QC Chapter was QC’s most active youth partner especially in delivering health services and education to not just the youth of QC but to all its people. 

Also present to witness the awarding was AYNLA Bulacan Chapter Founding Mayor Nr. Erick Bernardo, Secretary of Education & Research Nr. Anthony Abustan and AYHA’s Treasurer-in-Trust Dave Santuile. The award was given by QCYC President John Lesther Mercader.

The highlight of the awarding was the conferment of QC’s Most Outstanding Youth Leader award to Alvin Dakis – AYNLA’s Founder and young luminary. 

But Dakis got nod of the search committee for many of his works beyond the young health professionals. He won because he has expanded the role of the youth especially in policy direction and international affairs. His active participation and leadership as the Founding Chairperson of the International Youth Council Philippines (an international youth organization of the youth assembly in the United Nations) and as the 2012-2014 Chairperson of the International Youth Steering Committee of the 7th Asia-Pacific Conference on Reproductive & Sexual Health and Rights (APCRSHR) earned him the award among other nominees.

Apart from his endeavors to help the uplift the Filipino youth, Dakis brings his advocacy to  the Social Media. He speaks during blogging summits and encourages young people to blog about health. He founded the Philippine Health Blogging Society – a group of health professionals and advocates seeking to have a group of professional bloggers that will help in ensuring the public quality information on health & wellness in the blogosphere. 

“He is an inspiration to not just the youth of QC but to every Filipino youth, to help the nation be better by being active change agents.” Dave Santuile said, who also took the photos during the event.

Hindi po ako naniniwala sa sinabi ni Gat. Jose Rizal, na ang kabataan ang pag-asa ng bayan. Kahit pa sabihin niyang “so you think amalayer? Amalayer!” ay maninindigan ako na ang kabataan ay ang NGAYON ng bayan.

Sa Lokal na Pamahalaan ng Lungsod ng Quezon, sa mga panauhing pandangal, sa mga kapwa ko kabataan na papangaralan ngayon, sa Quezon City Youth Confederation, sa lahat ng mga aking kaberks, magandang gabi.

Bakit tayo ang ngayon ng bayan? Ngayon sapagkat tayo ang humuhubog sa isang lipunan na ating nais – isang bansang masagana, maginhawa at maunlad o isang bansang sadlak sa kahirapan, pagdudusa at kamang-kamangan — lahat ng ito, tayo ang gagawa, tayo din ang magwawakas.

Bawat isa sa atin pwede maging Outstanding. Dahil ang pagiging outstanding ay hindi nangangahulugang perfection. Ang pagiging outstanding ay hindi lang sa grado nakikita – ito ay wala sa nagkakandilang report card, o sa sankaterbang medalya. Ito ay nasa patuloy na pagpupursigi at walang humpay na pag-abot ng mga pangarap. Ito ay nasa walang kapagurang pagtyatyaga upang makatapos ng pag-aaral, o makapag trabaho ng marangal para sa sarili, para sa pamilya. At sa bawat kibot mo, isinasama mo rin ang pagmamahal sa kapwa, pagtulong ng walang kapalit at pagiging aktibo sa mga gawain at organisasyong kagaya ng QCYC na patuloy na nagsisikap na paglingkuran ang kabataan ng QC.

Nanawagan ako na patuloy kayong lumahok para sa ikauunlad ng bayan. Huwag niyong hayaang dungisin ang ating kinabukasan sa pagbabalewala ng ngayon. Pangarap ko na makita kayo na buong dangal niyong itinataas ang bandila ng Lungsod ng Quezon at ng ating bansa saan mang dako kayo naroon.
